Washington, DC’s Overwatch League Team Welcomes Kate Mitchell as Assistant General Manager!

SEPTEMBER 7, 2018 -- Washington, DC’s Overwatch League team, the newly announced franchise purchased by Washington Esports Ventures that will begin play in the 2019 season, has hired Kate Mitchell as Assistant General Manager.

Mitchell will be involved with player management and daily operations of the team. Prior to joining the Washington, DC team, she was General Manager of the Overwatch Contenders team Last Night's Leftovers, which made history by being the first independent team to defeat an Overwatch League-affiliated academy team in Contenders. Previously, Mitchell served as Manager of Team Kungarna in Overwatch Contenders Trials and has been active in other gaming titles as a tournament organizer and broadcaster.

“Kate brings deep knowledge of both the game and the league in addition to a successful track record of managing esports teams,” said Mark Ein, owner of Washington, DC’s Overwatch League team. “We are thrilled to welcome her on board as Assistant General Manager. Kate has already hit the ground running to recruit players and coaches.”

"My first priority is putting together the world-class coaching staff and player roster that Washington, DC sports fans deserve. Washington, DC is a truly global city, and our focus will be on building a global team consisting of the best talents," Mitchell said. "Over time we will also look to build our community engagement and integrate local players from the Washington, DC area into our youth setup."
